She started on Judo being only ten years and she is currently exhibiting an excellent profile: Bronze medal in the Olympic Games of Barcelona, 1992; gold in Atlanta, 1996; silver in Sidney 2000 and bronze in Athens 2004. She also conquered a world gold medal, two in the Panamerican Games and four titles in the exigent University World Games. She has been selected three times as the most outstanding female Athlete of the Year in Cuba.
