This Guantánamo-born athlete is joining the Hungarian Lazlo Papp and the Cuban Teófilo Stevenson in the selected roster of boxers gaining three Olympic medals of gold. Being 1.98 meters tall, he achieved the above mentioned success at Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996 and Sydney 2000. He is also boasting six titles in equal number of world championships. A total sum of 592 successes over only 17 defeats conform his history as athlete. He managed to win 14 belts which earned him the title of major winner in Giraldo Córdova Cardín competitions.
