  CARLOS PUEBLA  (1917-1989)

Hailing from Manzanillo, in the province of Granma, this composer, guitar player and singer bears in his blood the notes of the most genuine Cuban Son. From the triumph of the Revolution, he started to compose about the most relevant events taking place. This was the origin of renowned “guarachas” like “Y en eso llegó Fidel” (And Then Fidel Arrived) and “La OEA es cosa de risa (The OAS Is a Laughable Thing); the bolero “Yankees Go Home”; the “Son de la alfabetización” (Son of the Alphabetization), and the mythical song “Hasta Siempre Comandante” (1965), devoted to Che, which made him famous in several latitudes.
